Ohio State defensive end Jack Sawyer struck while the iron was hot after his incredible touchdown run in the College Football Playoff semifinals.
After Sawyer, 22, returned a fumble 83 yards and a game-clinching touchdown against Texas on Friday, January 10, the college football star quickly dropped some merchandise to celebrate the instantly iconic moment.
The NIL Store is now home to the exclusive release of Sawyer’s “Scoop N’ Score,” a reference to his sacking of the Texas quarterback. Quinn Ewers which resulted in the touchdown.
A black hoodie, black sweatshirt, and black t-shirt featuring images of Sawyer’s Big Room are available for purchase in the store. The items cost $64.99, $54.99, and $39.99, respectively.
Per Sawyer’s agreement with The NIL Store, the store also offers jerseys, sweatshirts and shirts bearing Sawyer’s name, image and likeness. (In 2021, a law took effect allowing college athletes to profit from the sale of their NIL rights.)
The Ohio State star also has deals with Wendy’s, The Players Trunk clothing store and Ricart Automotive, according to his Instagram.
Sawyer’s touchdown, which came with just over two minutes remaining in the game as Texas headed toward a potential tying touchdown, secured Ohio State’s trip to the College Football Playoff National Championship on Monday, 20 January.
The Buckeyes will face Notre Dame at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, hoping to win the school’s first national title since 2014.
After the match, Sawyer told ESPN Holly Rowe on the magnitude of the moment.
“It means everything to me,” Sawyer said. “God has blessed this team with so much talent. I kind of passed out when I ran over and picked it up. The coach put us in a great position. I mean, I was just put in a good position by the coaches and I saw the ball fall right at me after I tackled it.
Sawyer added, “I just thought I had to stay standing because, like I said, I almost passed out when I saw nothing but green grass in front of me.”
Ohio State head coach Ryan Day couldn’t help but praise Sawyer, who made the decision to return to Ohio State for his senior season despite an attractive NFL Draft profile.
“To make a play like that at that time,” Day, 45, told ESPN. “Want to leave a legacy behind? You become a legend. He just became a legend at Ohio State.
