Beyoncé postpones its highly anticipated announcement due to the wildfires in Los Angeles.
“The January 14 announcement will be postponed to a later date due to the devastation caused by the ongoing fires in the Los Angeles area,” the pop superstar, 43, shared via Instagram on Monday, January 13.
She continued: “I continue to pray for healing and rebuilding for families suffering from trauma and loss. We are fortunate to have courageous first responders who continue to work tirelessly to protect the Los Angeles community.
Beyoncé made a major announcement — which fans have speculated could range from a new tour to a new album — for January 14 after her NFL Christmas Gameday halftime show in Houston, Texas. The star performed songs from her Cowboy Carter album for the first time during the Baltimore Ravens vs. Houston Texans game on December 25.
The singer’s family was affected by the wildfires in the Los Angeles area, which ravaged areas including Pacific Palisades and Hollywood Hills. Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowlesshared via Instagram on Thursday (January 9) that she lost her Malibu bungalow to the fires. “It was my favorite place, my sanctuary, my sacred and happy place,” Tina, 71, revealed.
“God bless all the brave men and women of our fire department who risked their lives in dangerous conditions,” Tina continued. “We (thank you) for your dedication and courage and for saving so many lives. The situation could have been much worse without the dedication of emergency workers and rescue workers. I am so sad for the people who lost all five of their family members. My most sincere prayers are with you!!!!”
She added: “To the people who have lost their homes and possessions, I can only imagine what it feels like to lose properties and everything you have worked so hard and sacrificed so much for! My heart and deep prayers go out to you all ❤️I cannot imagine the pain, suffering and fear you are enduring. I pray diligently for our beautiful city of Los Angeles!! But we are resilient and we will recover!
On Sunday, January 12, Beyoncé’s BeyGood Foundation announced the creation of a new Los Angeles fire relief fund, to which the nonprofit has pledged $2.5 million.
“Los Angeles, we stand with you. 🫶🏽,” BeyGood shared in an Instagram announcement.
“The fund is intended to assist families in the Altadena/Pasadena area who lost their homes, as well as churches and community centers to meet the immediate needs of those affected by the wildfires,” the fund said. ‘organization.
