Travis Kelce is grateful for his “very strong relationship” with his girlfriend Taylor Swift.
“I enjoy all aspects of life, for sure,” Kelce, 35, exclaimed during a Wednesday, January 15, appearance on the show Stephen A. Smith Show. “Taylor and I are happy and I couldn’t be happier to have that confidence and comfort off the field and all the support I could ever ask for in the stadium.”
Kelce and Swift, 35, have been together since summer 2023 after attending one Tour of the eras concerts in Kansas City armed with a DIY friendship bracelet that has become synonymous with her shows. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end had hoped to give the bracelet to Swift — which included his phone number — but was unable to meet the pop star. The three-time Super Bowl champion recalled the perceived rejection on his “New Heights” podcast later in July 2023.
After Swift heard Kelce’s plan while listening to the podcast episode, she reached out to him privately. The pair went public the following September when Swift attended her first Chiefs game.
Now, Swift is a fixture at Kelce football games. (Throughout the 2024-25 season, she attended almost every home game at Arrowhead Stadium in KC.)
“I think, personally, the beauty of being in a really strong relationship is that you get that support to be able to focus on your craft, focus on being the best version of yourself,” added Kelce Wednesday. “That’s why I wanted to be at (her) concerts to support her and be there for her, making sure she feels comfortable and supported in everything she does in life.”
Meanwhile, publicly sharing his support for Swift, Kelce claimed he remains “focused like (he) always has been” on the football field.
“I’m more focused than ever on my job and being the best player I can be week in and week out for this team,” he said. “It’s because I don’t have to worry about things off the field.”
Kelce has had a slow start to the current NFL season, which some critics have blamed on his frequent trips to see Swift perform on stage. (She wrapped it Tour of the eras in December 2024, topped off with a surprise party hosted by Kelce.)
“You have to be true to yourself,” he told Smith, referring to criticism of his relationship. “People say things (and) you have to be able to think and look at yourself and ask yourself, ‘Why are they saying these things?’ I was still playing at a high level knowing all that. We were winning football games, that’s all I care about, and on top of that, this building knew how hard I worked and how much I focused on football all year long.
Kelce and the Chiefs have secured first place in the AFC and are preparing for the divisional round of the playoffs on Saturday, January 18, for a chance to compete in the conference championship and hopefully the Super Bowl.
