Jessica Alba is not only a successful actress but also a businesswoman thanks to her brand, The Honest Company – but her ex-husband, Warren Cashalso has ties to the brand.
Alba, 43, founded the personal care brand in 2011, which began with a focus on baby products. The Honest Company launched the following year with 17 products initially sold on its website and at various Whole Foods and Costco stores. It later expanded to home care products.
In 2014, the brand was added to Target, Buy Buy Baby and Nordstrom departments. As The Honest Company grew, so did its profits. It was then valued at $1 billion.
Two years later, Forbes Alba’s estimated net worth was around $340 million due to the success of The Honest Company. However, Forbes withdrew its report in 2021.
“Even at the high end of the price range, Alba’s 6% stake (including options) would be worth just under $100 million,” the publication said at the time. “That’s far less than the $340 million Forbes estimated she was worth when we estimated her stake at 20 percent and included her on our 2016 list of America’s Most Successful Self-Made Women.”
The same year, The Honest Company officially filed for its IPO. The company was then valued at around $1.4 billion. According to a 2021 SEC filing, Alba’s salary for the following year was set at $700,000.
After being behind the brand for over a decade, Alba announced in April 2024 that she was stepping down as creative director. She remains a member of the Honest Company board of directors.
“Building Honest has been a true labor of love,” she wrote at the time via Instagram. “From the first concept book I presented to my friends in the Mommy and Me course, to ringing the Nasdaq bell with my family by my side – this journey has been the adventure of a lifetime, one that only existed in my wildest dreams…”
At the time of his departure, The Honest Company was valued at $363 million. According to a December 2024 SEC filing, Alba and Warren, 45, both have voting and investment power as directors of the shares held by Warren Trust.
Currently, Honest Company is valued at approximately $609 million, significantly less than the $1.7 billion valuation it had at the time of its IPO.
News broke earlier this week that Alba and Warren had decided to separate after 16 years of marriage. TMZ reported on Wednesday (January 8) that the couple was preparing to file for divorce. Us every week contacted representatives for Alba and Warren for comment at the time.
