Now that the last Battlestar Galactic reboot was thrown out of Hollywood’s airlock, fans fiercely argued over how to bring back this franchise. However, as the reboot loved to remind us, everything that happened before is destined to happen again. With this in mind, I have a simple proposition: we need a Battlestar Galactic a spin-off that shows what was happening aboard the various Colony ships in the 2003 reboot, an idea reminiscent of that show’s very first season.
The original idea for Battlestar Galactica
Throughout the reboot, we haven’t had many episodes featuring civilian ships, and most of the best are in the first season of the series. The reason is that Ronald D. Moore originally wanted the series to frequently explore what was happening in the fleet, but SyFy was concerned about the cost of doing so. And after “Bastille Day” (an episode that took place mostly aboard a prison ship) ended up costing a lot of money to produce, the network and Moore agreed to focus the action primarily aboard the Galactica for the next episodes.
In a word, this idea would be the perfect Battlestar Galactic spin-off show. This could work as a true anthology, with each episode focusing on different ships and crews at different points in the original series. From a creative standpoint, it would really be a win/win, as the audience would always have new characters to fall in love with and the network could potentially hire big names for one-off appearances, which is much easier than locking someone for several seasons. contract.
Definition of a Battlestar Galactic spinoffs during the original series’ time period will also offer fans more adventures set during the franchise’s most exciting time…namely, after the Cylons attack the colonies. While I was thinking caprice was good, this show’s low ratings and subsequent cancellation are proof that fans don’t necessarily want prequels or other types of spinoffs that stray too far from what they know and love. With this anthology-style spin-off, it could have a familiar setting and premise (the colony ships) (humanity trying to survive a Cylon-induced apocalypse) as well as compelling new characters.
Moreover, with this Battlestar Galactic spin-off, it would be possible to bring back the reboot through several methods, including simply bringing in the original audio to serve as transmissions received by the colony ships. Alternatively, the new spinoff might be able to recruit the reboot’s cast to provide new voice work. By limiting their voices to audio transmissions, producers won’t have to worry about making actors younger, and actors are much more likely to return if they just have to record a few lines and get a damn paycheck.
At the risk of sounding as selfish as Gaius Baltar, this Battlestar Galactic The spin-off idea has something for everyone: new stories, familiar ships, and endless narrative potential. It could work as a TV show or even a series of movies made for streaming, and it would be relatively cheap to produce (especially because there’s no real need for space battles or other action scenes heavy). However, right now, an overpaid executive is working on the reboot Galactic from scratch, and unless the producers adopt an idea that has been around for decadesthis franchise will never be resurrected in a new body.
