Even if you are a fan of these films, most zombie films share a major problem. Namely, that almost everything looks like a lame reward of what preceded. Of course, we get the occasional international surprise as Training for BusanBut the vast majority of domestic films of this kind resemble reheated from classics like George Romero Dawn of the dead. Here is good news for horror demons: The dead do not die By Jim Jarmusch, now broadcasts on Netflix, and it is really different from any zombie film that you have never seen before.
The dead do not die on Netflix
When you check The dead do not die On Netflix, you will immediately notice its gap with respect to the typical zombie formula thanks to the plot: it begins with two cops which are found in the head when the dead begin to resuscitate while the rotation of the earth has been modified by the Polar fracturing. However, these are not exactly action heroes, and they soon discover that little is more effective in sending The Walking Dead than the owner of the Funeral House. Unfortunately, it quickly becomes clear that this world is broken in a way that no pistol or sword can never really change.
One of the most convincing reasons to disseminate The dead do not die On Netflix, it is for its incredible distribution, including Bill Murray and Adam Driver (two genre legends) as a besieged police. Tilda Swinton, on the other hand, is the director of the deadliest funeral home in the world (full with Sword), and two travelers passing through the city are played by Austin Butler and Selena Gomez. Veteran actors Steve Buscemi and Danny Glover play city residents, and the musicians Iggy Pop and Tom Waits play a crazy hermit and a crazy hermit.
Believe it or not, it’s not even all the big names The dead do not die… This original zombie film on Netflix also presents Chloë Sevigny, Rosie Perez, Carol Kane and many others. However, independent film lovers will probably be more interested in the man behind the camera, Jim Jarmusch. He made really revolutionary films like Foreign that paradiseAnd this last film allows him to do for the zombie genre what he did for the vampire genre with Only lovers left alive: Namely, turn it completely on his head.
Notably, The dead do not die gave Jarmusch its best opening to the box office, but “the best” is relative. The film won only $ 15.3 million, and its sleep status explains why so many people discover the film on Netflix. Critics, on the other hand, did not know what to do with this zombie film, and he has a critical 53% score on Rotten Tomatoes. While criticisms generally complained that Jarmusch’s experiences with tones and themes sometimes fell flat, they have always praised the film for his killer cast and his equally deadly mind.
Now, for the big question: if The dead do not die Barely a hit at the box office and did not even reach a “fresh” score on Rotten Tomatoes, why I encourage you to broadcast it on Netflix? As always, it should be remembered that criticisms are historically severe enough for most horror films that are not marked as “high”. Frankly, these are the same criticisms that insist that Emilia Pérez Should win an Oscar for the best film (a film with a critical score of 74% and a 20% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes) who like to plunge your favorite horror films.
In addition, The dead do not die is a really fresh vision of a genre that is very played. It takes big swings and does not always connect, but be honest, don’t you prefer to watch an independent but ambitious and creative film as shit like Zack Snyder Army? In a world where this genre seems as dead as its bad guys, Jim Jarmusch at least tries something new.
Finally, call me a fanboy if you have to, but I loved watching The dead do not die On Netflix, because there are full of impressive actors who could make the simple fact of reading a repertoire seems completely riveted. Bill Murray and Adam Driver bounce so well, and Tilda Swinton is delicious as director of the impassive funeral home which happens to be the perfect post-apocalyptic samurai. Heck is a film where actors nominated from the Oscars like Austin Butler play Bit characters, and the veteran presence of talents like Danny Glover and Steve Buscemi even makes the most captivating scenes.
Will you like The dead do not die As much as me when you broadcast it on Netflix, or will this film root you for a real life of the dead? You will not know before broadcasting it. Come for the dry spirit of Bill Murray and stay for Tom Waits inexplicably flying each scene in which he is.
